Recipe inside front cover, "To make a runing cream cheese," other recipes are medical or veterinary. Household accounts include purchases of cloth, ribbons, lace, shoes, gloves, books (especially bibles and prayer books) and payments for household help. At back of volume is a list of books "taken to Chilcote" and a list of books "left in London," and "directions to trads people in London."

Katherine May Clarke (née McLay) was born in 1940 in Clinton, Ont. She graduated in 1963 with an Honours BA from Trinity College, University of Toronto, in Art & Archaeology.
